PINS - Kiss Me Quickly (It's Christmas)
Punk girl band PINS haven't wasted any time in getting into the Christmas spirit. The have actually release a whole 13 track mixtape on cassette entitled "Haus Of PINS" which includes this single amongst 12 other hand-picked festive songs by other artists. This single is much more chilled than PINS normal material, but is equally as enjoyable and the sleigh-bells give it a bit of a festival feel...
SKINDRED - Kill The Power
Picking up the pace slightly after PINS. Skindred have definitely become a sort of guilty pleasure of mine being able to somehow fuse metal instrumentals with reggae. They recently released the video for their latest single "Kill The Power" and yes, I like the song. Sampling Kanye West's "Power" instrumentals at points, this song will most certainly be stuck in my head for a while...
MOGWAI - The Lord Is Out Of Control
A somewhat new discovery for me Mogwai have been coming up a lot more nowadays and now I can see why. Their post-rock slightly ambient instrumentals just make them really easy to listen to and after soundtracking the recent programme "The Returned" more eyes have been opened to them. Another song of theirs to check out would be "George Square Thatcher Death Party" but before that, this song is really nice...
