Music News...

As always the music world just continues to have new and exciting things happen every single day so here's a rundown of some of the important things that have happened in the music industry over the past few days...

FREE "GEOLOGY - NORTH EP"
Geology is the name of a one-man band fronted by Greg Jehanian (bassist in mewithoutYou). He has just released his solo EP on a "name your price" basis and it is pretty darn good! It's classified as "Alternative/Indie Rock" but you can hear the influence of shoegaze style music throughout. A genuinely good EP with 8 tracks!! (an abundance considering it's an EP). So click here to get it for whatever price you'd like - including free - and then be happy with yourself.

THE STRYPES NEW SINGLE "WHAT A SHAME"
Well, it's definitely not a shame that they released this single - this band just continue to impress me. Everything that they put out just sounds so fresh, whilst still holding a vintage influence and paying homage to those before them. Definitely look forward to their debut record Snapshot out on the 9th of September. Until then, click here and listen to the latest from The Strypes.

IN COLOUR NEW SINGLE "ALL THAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR"
In Colour are a band that I discovered quite recently, I still have no idea how but they're good! They released a new single through their soundcloud earlier this week and I really like it. They're a great upcoming Rock band. Their latest single did remind me a little of Mallory Knox, but you can have a listen for yourself here.

THIS WILD LIFE COVER BRING ME THE HORIZON
This Wild Life released a cover earlier this week of BMTH's "Sleepwalking" and it has received a lot of love and rightly so! This is a tough song to cover and especially to cover acoustically so kudos to these guys. Have a listen to this lovely rendition here and if you like it you can download the cover free from here.

DECADE NEW MUSIC VIDEO "BRAINFREEZE"
I started following Decade's material after I saw them support Don Broco at Koko earlier this year and they've just released a new music video for their latest single "Brainfreeze". I liked them when I saw them and after this video/song I like them even more. A standard video but the song is top quality. A little Lower Than Atlantis-y too which makes me smile. Have a listen here.

THE ORWELLS NEW MUSIC VIDEO "WHO NEEDS YOU"
The Orwells are a pretty new band and they're doing quite well. They're a really fun band, and their sound would be electric live - they'll definitely be on my list of bands to see live next year. In the mean time I will enjoy listening to this single here and will pick up their EP out on the 9th of September.

GIG ANNOUNCEMENT: CAMFEST 2013
CAMFEST is a non-profit festival set up by an acquaintance of mine every year, it's cheap and it's always been quality in years past - and this year it's even better/bigger! Check out the festival page here and see if you can make it - this year it's located in Radlett, Hertfordshire and gracing the line-up are Thousand Autumns, Tides, Alaska Campus and more...

GALLOWS ANNOUNCE WARM-UP SHOWS PRIOR TO R&L
Gallows recently announced that they'd be playing a few warm up shows in preparation for this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals. Having seen them at last year's Reading I can vouch and say - they are definitely worth seeing. Manic band, and their latest record is one to behold. Check out the list of dates here.

WAYWARD DAUGHTER ANNOUNCE INTIMATE ONLINE GIG
In support of their upcoming support tour with Janet Devlin, Wayward Daughter have offered their fans from all over the world the chance to grab a ticket and watch them play a slightly unconventional live online acoustic gig. Tickets went on sale a couple of hours ago and last I checked there were only 90 tickets left. Click here to bag your ticket before they go.

PALMA VIOLETS TAKE THE USA
Palma Violets played a couple of songs last night on American talk-show - Jimmy Kimmel. They performed "Best Of Friends" and "Rattlesnake Highway". I find that quite often when British bands perform on American talk-shows like these they dampen their performances to fit the setting quite a lot and it really stifles the talent in my opinion. I'm so glad that Palma Violets are not that type of band. Quality performance.

I think that's the most of it. Come back next week for a tonne more news...
